Russell (5-8-2) was instrumental in St. John's gaining four points in the BIG EAST standings after a 1-0 victory over Seton Hall on Friday and a 0-0 double-overtime time with Rutgers on Sunday.

The junior tallied 11 saves for the weekend, which advanced her season tally to 64 and her career record to 240. For her career, Russell has recorded 27 shutouts.

Against Rutgers, the St. Petersburg, Fla. native tallied seven saves helping the Red Storm to its second shutout of the weekend. In the second period, Russell had a strong presence in the goal, facing 10 Rutgers' shots that peppered her net. In the 60th minute, Russell came up with a save that stopped a wide open shot from the Scarlet Knights' Tricia DiPaolo from the top left corner of the 18-yard box. Again, with just four minutes left in regulation, Russell made a save off a free kick, knocking the ball down and clearing it beyond her defenders.

On Friday, against Seton Hall, Russell had four saves to help St. John's to their second home victory of the season and third conference win.

The honor was the second for the junior goalkeeper this season as she was tabbed to the honor roll on Aug. 30 after being named to the JMU/Comfort Inn Invitational All-Tournament team. The accolade is Russell's seventh-career weekly honor as she was also named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week twice in 2009 and three times in 2008.

Currently, Russell ranks second in the BIG EAST in shutouts (7) and shutouts per game (0.44), third in save percentage (.814), fourth in saves (70) and fifth in saves per game (4.38).

As a team, St. John's ranks No. 5 in the BIG EAST in shutouts (7), sixth in goals allowed (1.00 per game) and seventh in saves (4.70 per game).
