QUEENS, N.Y. - After a 2-0-0 week for the St. John's women's soccer team, Nicole Doran was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Kristin Russell earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors. St. John's (7-4-4, 3-3-2) earned a pair of shutout wins to extend its winning streak to three games. The Red Storm upset No. 15 Rutgers, 1-0, and defeated Seton Hall, 2-0, in a pair of home games at Belson Stadium. The win over Rutgers was the Red Storm's first win over a ranked team this season.

Doran was a huge part of the Red Storm's defensive efforts. The junior played the full 90 minutes and helped shutout No. 15 Rutgers in a 1-0 victory on Friday. Against Seton Hall on Sunday, Doran scored the game-winning goal - the first of her career - and played all 90 minutes as the Red Storm posted the shutout to set a new school record with 10 shutouts on the year.

Russell had another stellar weekend in net for the Red Storm as she added two more shutouts to her season total. The freshman set a new Red Storm single-season record with 10 shutouts this year, surpassing Jaime Beran's record of eight set in 2006. Her efforts also helped the team set a new program record with 10 shutouts on the season.

St. John's is back in action on Oct. 21 for a 3 p.m. BIG EAST matchup with Georgetown.
