• The Red Storm is coming off a 0-1-1 weekend, shutting out then-No. 11 West Virginia, 0-0, and losing a close game, 1-0, to Pittsburgh. St. John's record stands at 4-2-4, 1-2-0 BIG EAST.
• The story of the year has been the strength of the team's defense, which has only allowed three goals. St. John's has tallied seven shutouts, four of which were wins, and is only two away for tying the all-time season record of nine.
A Look At The Competition • St. John's will face Villanova for the 18th time in history. The Wildcats hold the all-time series record, 12-3-2, including posting a 6-0-1 slate at home. The two teams last met on Oct. 2, 2005, and the end result was a scoreless tie, 0-0.
• Villanova comes into the weekend with an 8-3-0, 1-2-0 BIG EAST record. The team opened up the season with a seven-game winning streak, lost the next three contests, then got back on the winning track with a 1-0 win over Seton Hall. Erin Hardiman leads the way for the WIldcats with 14 points (3g, 8a) and Kaitlin Ryan is second with 13 points and a team-high five goals (3a). Ten different VU players have tallied a goal on the season.
• The Red Storm and Hoyas meet for the 10th time in history. The series is tied at 4-4-1. St. John's has fared better on the road, posting a 3-1 slate compared to a 1-3-1 record at home. Georgetown has won the last three meetings, including posting a 2-1 win in the last contest on Sept. 30, 2005.
• The Hoyas enter the weekend with an unbeaten record on the year, 8-0-2, 2-0-0 BIG EAST. The team has posted a 4-0-1 slate through its last five contests, including wins over league foes Seton Hall, 2-0, and Rutgers, 1-0. Toni Hudson leads the way for GU with a team-high eight goals and 20 points and Samantha Baker is second with five goals, four assists and 14 points. On the year, the Hoyas have outscored opponents 25-4.
Russell Making A Name For Herself • Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Russell is ranked No. 1 in the nation in save percentage and No. 3 in goals against average. Russell has only allowed two goals in 10 games this season, tallying a .193 goals against average and a save percentage of .964. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native has received three honors this year, as she was a two-time BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honoree and was a TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week selection.
St. John's Ranked Among The Best • The St. John's defense has been strong this season allowing only three goals while posting seven shutouts in 10 games. Through Sept. 28 games, the Red Storm has posted a .948 save percentage and a .276 goals against average to rank No. 2 in the country. The team has also posted seven shutouts for a 0.700 shutout percentage, which is the sixth-best average among Division I women's programs.
