Russell signs with St. John's

St. Petersburg Catholic senior goalkeeper Kristin Russell signed a letter of intent Wednesday to attend St. John's University in the fall.

Russell compiled a 0.56 goals allowed average five goals, nine games in her senior season with the Barons. Battling injuries much of the year, Russell had 67 saves and five shutouts.

Russell also was a standout for Carlisle High in Carlisle, Pa., where she spent two seasons before transferring to SPC. In her sophomore year, she was named the Carlisle Sentinel player of the year and athlete of the year at Carlisle High after leading the school to its first national top 10 ranking.
